William Lane Craig debates
William Lane Craig has a rule that he only debates people with a doctorate, although he does not apply the rule consistently.
Richard Carrier now has a doctorate in history.
One debate that would be good to see would be a debate between William Lane Craig and Richard Carrier on whether or not the Gospels are historically reliable.
I wonder if William Lane Craig is ready to debate with a historian on the historical worth of the Gospels?

I understand that is planned. See here for instance. I don't see it as official yet.

I can hardly believe that Craig is planning to debate a professional historian on the historical validity of the Gospels!
'Professional Historian.'
Besides Carrier, aren't there others who haven't recently received a PhD. that would be a better match for Craig?
Just thinking out loud.

You mean people like Doug Krueger?
I don't share your skepticism toward Craig, and I don't keep tabs on who he has debated. It would be interesting to see him debate a historian however. I think his opponent would have his work cut out for him (rationally, not merely rhetorically speaking). I recently discovered an interesting fact about Pannenberg (Craig's disseration supervisor in Munich) though: his work in defending the resurrection is actually a historical defense rather than requiring the truth of the Scriptures.
Let's keep our ears out for such a debate.
