Atheist summer camps

Summer camp seems a very American idea to me. Some children do enjoy them.

The law in England is that all schoolchildren are compelled to take part in acts of worship of a God.

After a year of compulsory worship of a god they do not believe in, is it surprising that some students want a break?

Is it surprising that there are Christians who mock a secular summer camp, yet see nothing wrong in legislation forcing children to worship God in schools?

British Christians defending genocide

Christians continue to try to remove the negative assocations with which the word 'genocide' has become encrusted over the course of the past century.

Marcus Honeysett explains why his Holy Book tells him that a whole group of people were so evil, that tney had to be killed, man, woman and child.

Jesus loved these people so much, that His Father decided they all had to be killed.

Isn't Christianity a wonderful religion?

Bishops answer questions from atheists

Bishop Alan Wilson answers questions from atheists.

CARR
Why did this Good Shepherd allow 250,000 of his sheep to be killed by a tsunami on 26/12/2004?

THE RIGHT REVEREND ALAN WILSON
Steven, dear bloke, you're just trolling. One reason your railing doesn't change anything much is that very few, if any, of the people whose religion you sneer at out of ignorance actually believes anyway in the kind of aunt sally deities you reject.

The problem of pain is very important. But your theory that natural disasters are caused personally by Jesus, or even that anyone would ever think that, is bizarre.

------------------------------------------------------
All I can say is that this answer is pathetic. Who would have thought that somebody who managed to become not just reverend, but 'right reverend' would be so offended by a question that he must surely have asked himself many , many times?

Daniel Dennett at the Darwin Festival in Cambridge

Daniel Dennett writes 'I've heard two of you talk now, and you keep saying this is an interdisciplinary effort--evolutionary theology--but I am still waiting to be told what theology has to contribute to the effort. You've clearly adjusted your theology considerably in the wake of Darwin, which I applaud, but what traffic, if any, goes in the other direction? Is there something I'm missing?'

Theologians, according to John Polkinghorne, are engaged in a search for truth.

So what progress are they making?

What problems did theology face at the start of the 19th century that theologians say that the know the answers to now, without having used one of the many sciences to arrive at that answer?

Christianity - Is it for scum?

The Christianity Explored course says ''In the next chapter we’ll see exactly how Jesus achieves that rescue, but for now I want to focus on the assumption Jesus makes: that we are all rebels in need of rescue, even if we believe we’re basically good people.'

My friends believe I am basically a good person.

Is Jesus not my friend?

Is this a new Christian slogan? 'Christianity - It's for scum like you.'

Do Christians have any respect for humanity? Are they even capable of saying that atheists are good people?

Another blunder in the Gospel of Mark

On page 211 of 'Mark for Everyone', the Bishop of Durham , NT Wright, says that 'kings and senior nobles wore purple in the ancient world'.

Mark 15 'They put a purple robe on him, then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on him. And they began to call out to him, "Hail, king of the Jews!" Again and again they struck him on the head with a staff and spit on him.'

How many kings and senior nobles were there in Jerusalem at the time?

Does anybody seriously expect us to believe that the Roman soldiers took one of Pilate's robes so they could spit on it?
